Riding an electric bike in various environments can be a delightful experience. However, harsh elements such as rain, grime, salt, and dirt can gradually damage the bike. Therefore, it's a good idea to clean your bike regularly to maintain its appearance and make it enjoyable to ride.

Are Ride1Up bikes waterproof?

Our ebikes are not waterproof. They are water-resistant and rated IP-65.

Please see this related article for more details about IP ratings and water resistance: Are Ride1Up Ebikes Waterproof?

Note: It is important to prevent water from entering any electronic components, such as connectors, the controller, and the battery, to avoid any damage. Do not use a hose or direct spray of water/liquid onto the bike or electrical components. Never submerge any electrical components in water or liquid.

Best Cleaning Practice:

  1. Turn off the bike and remove the battery.
  2. Wipe down the bike frame with a clean cloth and warm soapy water. Use a soft brush to remove debris like sand or dried mud.
  3. Use a clean dry cloth to dry the bike as much as possible.
  4. It's important to store the bike in a dry location to allow it to completely dry before installing the battery.
  5. Reinstall the battery and perform a full test of the bike's functions before riding it.

It's important to keep in mind that while an ebike with an IP65 rating is designed to withstand exposure to water and other elements, minimizing that exposure can help extend the lifespan of its electrical components and hardware. We also advise storing the ebike in a dry, indoor location.
