Anatomy of the Frame Latch

Frame Latch on the Portola

Frame Latch

Removing the current latch

  • Release the current Frame Latch and open the frame to release all tension on the latch.
  • Unscrew the 2mm Grub Screw located on the inside face of the rear section of the frame.
  • Allow the pivot axle to slide out of the bottom of the frame. NOTE: You may need to wiggle the Frame Latch to help entice the pivot axle to slide out.
  • With the pivot axle removed, the Frame Latch will no longer be attached to the frame.

Installing the new latch

  • Hold the pivot end of the new Frame Latch in the Frame Latch Gap on the rear part of the Portola frame. Try to approximately line up the Pivot Axle hole on the Frame Latch with the Pivot Axle hole on the frame.
  • Slide the Pivot Axle, beveled end first, into the Pivot Axle hole on the bottom of the rear part of the Portola frame.
  • Use a small allen key to push the pin up into the frame as far as possible. NOTE: The Pivot Axle should pass into the Frame Latch Gap, through the Frame Latch, and into the frame on the opposite side of the Frame Latch Gap.
  • Tighten the Grub Screw to hold the pivot axle in place.
  • Adjust the Frame Latch tension.
