At some point during your ownership of the Vorsa ebike you will need to remove the rear wheel in order to do maintenance and repairs. The rear wheel on your bike is very similar to almost all hub driven ebikes but there are a few tips and tricks that are specific to the Vorsa. This article will explain how to remove the rear wheel on your bike.
Step 1: Flip the bike over or place it in a work stand
If you own a bicycle work stand go ahead and secure the bike so that the rear wheel is off the ground. If not, raise the seat and flip the bike upside down onto the seat and handlebars making sure that the bike is not resting on any of the controls such as the display, brake levers, or throttle lever. Depending on your specific set up, you may need to loosen the controls and rotate them on the handlebars to prevent damage.
Step 2: Disconnect and free the motor wire
Disconnect the electrical connector found on the non drive side chain stay of your frame. To fully free the motor cable from your frame you will have to cut the zip tie near the electrical connector and remove the bolt found below the brake caliper mount.
Step 3: Remove brake caliper
The brake rotor can hit the brake caliper during removal and it is best to fully remove the caliper. Use a 5mm hex wrench to remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper to your frame. The caliper can then be removed and left hanging by the hose while you perform the rest of the repair.
Step 4: Remove the axle nut and hardware
Use a 18mm wrench to remove the axle nut from both sides of the axle. Make sure to take note of the order of parts you remove as they will have to be reinstalled in the same order. The order of parts will be different on the drive and non drive side of the bike as shown in the photos below.
Step 5: Lift the wheel off of the bike.
Now the wheel should be free to be lifted out of the frame. This is usually easiest done by pulling the derailleur backwards to allow for clearance of the gears on the cassette.
