The Portola 02 features a updated 3.5in display with many features and customization options that allow the rider to tailor the the bike to their preferences. This article will explore how to navigate and set up the options of in your display.

Display Basics & Powering On:
The Portola 02 display has 5 buttons mounted separately to the left side of the handlebars; (+) and (-) on the top and bottom, (<) and (>) on the left and right, and power in the center.
Start by powering on your Ride1Up Portola 02 display.
Press the power button located in the center of the controls.
The Ride1Up logo will appear for about 3 seconds.
Once the main interface loads you will see your default screen.

Function Interface Walkthrough
There are three different screens on the Portola 02 display all with different information. The PAS level, Range estimate, and Battery level will be shown on all screens and you can short-press the power button to cycle through your screens for more information.

Headlight Control:
Long-press (+) button to toggle lights and dark mode
Icon illuminates at the top-right
Walk Assist Mode:
When stationary, long-press down (-) button
Assist pushes activates the motor at walking pace
Release to stop
Trip Reset:
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Trip Reset" and short press the power button to access setting
Use the (+) button to scroll to "YES" and short press the power button to select
TRIP, Avg speed, Max Speed, and usage stats will reset. Odometer and calories remains untouched
Factory Reset:
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Reset" and short press the power button to access setting
Use the (+) button to scroll to "YES" and short press the power button to select
You should now see "Reset Success" screen
Error Codes:
Shown as numeric codes where speed is normally displayed
Example: Error 30 = Communication error.

Settings Overview
To enter settings, press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons. Navigate through the settings using (+) and (-). Select by short pressing the power button.
You will see the following settings options on your screen:
Units: km/h or mph. Allows you to set your units based on miles per hour or kilometers per hour.
Backlight: Allows you to adjust brightness to 3 different levels.
Calorie reset: Allows you to reset the calorie counter on display screen III
Trip Reset: Allows you to reset the TripMeterr on display screen III
Auto Sleep: Allows you to set the timer for display turn off after inactivity. (5-30 mins or OFF)
Password: Allows you to set password when bike is turned on to access. (Note: password is required at power-on, do not set and forget, or new display purchase will be required)
Find My: Allows you to turn the Find My tracking feature on and off
Torque Ratio: Allows you to adjust torque assist sensitivity % by level (Eco = 10%, Boost = 100%)
Amp Output: Allows you to adjust cadence assist % by level (Eco = 10%, Boost = 100%)
Riding Mode: Allows you to adjust class modes (Class 1/2/3)
Ebike Info: Allows you to see display, controller and battery software info.
Advanced Settings: Allows you to see wheel circumference, speed limit, and change the PAS sensor mode (Torque vs Cadence)
- Reset: Factory resets display settings to default
Adjusting Key Settings:
Setting up Password: Set up start-up password for protection.
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings.
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Password" and short press the power button to access password setting.
Use the (-) button to scroll to “ON” and short press the power button to select.
Us the (+) and (-) buttons to input your desires password. Short press the power button to advance to the next digit.
Set your 4 digit password and write it down as a backup.
Note: password is required at power-on, do not set and forget, or new display purchase will be required.
Adjusting Class Modes: Switch between speed classes.
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings.
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Riding Mode" and short press the power button to access setting.
Use (+) and (-) button to select between Class 1, 2, 3 and short press the power button to save.
Adjusting Torque Ratio: Adjust torque sensitivity within individual PAS levels.
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings.
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Torque Ratio" and short press the power button to access setting.
Use the (+) and (-) buttons to select the PAS level you would like to modify (Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo, Boost)
Use the (<) and (>) buttons to change the ratio %
Press and hold both (+) and (-) to save and return to the settings screen
Switching to Cadence Sensor from Torque Sensor & Setting Assist Levels
To switch to Cadence mode, follow the steps below:
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings.
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Advanced Set" and short press the power button to access setting.
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Sensor Mode" and short press the power button to access setting.
Within Sensor Mode, use up (+) button to scroll up to Cadence
Short press the power button to select Cadence. You should now see the T change to C in the top left corner of the display.
Note: If you choose to ride using the Cadence mode, adjusting your current limits or Amp Output for your pedal assist levels is suggested to ensure smooth, responsive performance.
Press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons to enter the settings if needed
Use the (-) button to scroll to "Amp Output" and short press the power button to access setting
Use the (+) and (-) buttons to select the PAS level you would like to modify (Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo, Boost)
Use the (<) and (>) buttons to change the output %
Press and hold both (+) and (-) to save and return to the settings screen
To match the feel of R1CBC cadence sensor ebikes, we recommend updating your assist levels to the following settings:
Eco: 10%
Tour: 25%
Sport: 45%
Turbo: 70%
Boost: 100%
These adjustments provide a suggested riding experience to get the most out of the R1CBC cadence sensor software.
Note: Each time you switch between torque or cadence sensor modes, we recommend resetting the Amp Output levels to preference.
FindMy Set-Up for iOS Devices
Stand next to the bike, make sure to have Bluetooth enabled on your iPhone prior to start.
- Turn the display on and press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons for 2 seconds to enter the settings.
- Use the (-) button to navigate to the "Find My" setting and press the POWER button to enter the setting.
- Use the (-) button to select "On" and press the POWER button to select. You should now see the grey FindMy icon at the top of your display.
- Unlock your iPhone and open FindMy App.
- Go to "Items" located on the lower right of your screen.
- Click Add Item and click "other supported item" which should locate your bike.
- Once added, the FindMy icon will turn green and stays visible on the main display interface.
To Disable FindMy:
- Turn the display on and press and hold both the (+) and (-) buttons for 2 seconds to enter the settings.
- Use the (-) button to navigate to the "Find My" setting and press the POWER button to enter the setting.
- Use the (+) button to select "Off" and press the POWER button to select. The grey FindMy icon should now disappear from the top of your display
To Locate Your Bike
- Open the FindMy App.
- Tap "Route" to navigate to your bike.
- Tap "play sound" to activate light flash (no sound).
To Remove the Device
- With the bike turned on, open the FindMy App and select your bike.
- Scroll down to the settings and tap "Remove".
- The FindMy icon should now turn grey on the display and the FindMy function can be disabled in the display through the above steps.
Note: If the Item is not removed from both ends, it may stay registered to an old device.
