Ride1Up ebikes are not waterproof.

Our ebikes are not waterproof. They are water-resistant and rated IP-65

What is IP65?

  • IP-65 is not waterproofit is water resistant. You cannot submerge products that carry an IP65 rating and maintain their protection.
  • The term "IP-65 rating" refers to a standard used to classify and rate the level of protection provided by an enclosure or housing for electronic or electrical equipment against solids (dust and other particulates) and liquids (water).
  • An IP-65 rated enclosure offers high protection against dust and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for various outdoor and indoor applications where the equipment needs to be safeguarded against environmental factors.

Although the bikes can handle some water exposure, we do not recommend leaving them out in the rain or riding in hazardous conditions for personal safety reasons.

Before going out in damp conditions, it is important to make sure that the charge and USB ports (if they are equipped with USB) are completely sealed. Failing to take this precaution could result in water or moisture entering the charge port, which can damage your battery. Additionally, it can pose a risk of physical harm when the charger is connected.

At the end of this article, there will be reference pictures of the charge port for each bike, showing them open and closed.

Keeping your bike dry while traveling

When you strap yours to a bike rack or place it in the back of a truck bed, remove the battery as an added safeguard against the elements and avoid the risk that it might fall off your bike if it’s not attached correctly.

We do not recommend driving with your ebike on a hitch rack or the back of a truck bed in rainy conditions, as the electrical system may be damaged. If you must, cover your bike, or do not drive with it through the rain for an extended period.

Afterward, wipe the bike down with a dry cloth and park the bike in a dry location to allow the bike systems to dry out before installing the battery and using your bike.

Using a cover is highly recommended when traveling with your Ride1Up ebike, as the Ride1Up Warranty does not cover water damage.

Storing your bike

Storing your bicycle indoors within a temperature range of 50° - 77°F / 10° - 25°C is advisable. If outdoor storage is unavoidable, using a bike cover is strongly suggested. This will help safeguard the bike against weather conditions and potential water-related damage.
